Last month (10 September), we pitched up in the north-west to celebrate the entrepreneurial and creative spirit of the small and the brave businesses that have made their home in Salford’s MediaCityUK. Not wanting to make too much of a scene, we thought we’d have one painted instead. So up popped local illustrator Ben Lamb’s pop up art studio in MediaCityUK’s piazza and, with the lure of free coffee to entice the artist’s muses, Ben set about creating a grand scale portrait of the people and characters behind MediaCityUK’s small businesses.

A Hiscox tribute
Finally, after lots of late nights (and possibly more of that free coffee), Ben has finished his work and we’re delighted to unveil our Big Portrait – a Hiscox tribute to the small and the brave of MediaCityUK.

We think it’s fantastic. Thanks to Ben for his artistic efforts and thanks to each of you who took the time to come and see us. If you appear in the picture then head on over to MediaCityUK’s Facebook page and tag yourself in the portrait.

Call for a business insurance quote and get your free print

We also have a number of free, limited edition prints of the artwork available to the first 200 businesses that call us on 0845 213 8170 for a business insurance quote (don’t forget to mention MediaCityUK during the call).

Watch our video of the day here

Since our event we’ve been busy putting together our footage of the day. It was great to meet so many small business owners and mingle with the community of Salford Quays. If you didn’t make it on the day, take a look at our video to see what happened. If you did come along, see if you can spot yourself amongst the small and the brave of MediaCityUK.

And if you weren’t able to make it to Salford, don’t worry, you can still find lots more ‘small and the brave’ action on this blog as well as on Twitter @HiscoxUK.
