Join us on Tuesday 10th September for a free coffee and star in our ‘big portrait’ as we celebrate ‘the small and the brave’

He painted matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs, and loved the industrial districts of the north-west. Well, here at Hiscox, we appreciate good art and we’re keen to celebrate the modern day equivalent of those working heroes that Lowry loved so much. This time our ‘painter’ is local artist and illustrator, Ben Lamb, and the working heroes of the north-west are the contractors, freelancers and small businesses who are busy turning MediaCityUK into ‘the’ place to be for the UK’s creative industries.

Be part of the big portrait
We’re inviting small businesses, freelancers and contractors from the worlds of media, marketing, PR, IT and tech who have made their home in MediaCityUK, to join us on Tuesday 10 September. We’ll be set up all day in the MediaCityUK Piazza handing out free coffee – look out for the Hiscox coffee van – while our artist, Ben Lamb, will be sketching pictures of the crowd to create a grand scale portrait of what we at Hiscox like to call, the ‘small and the brave’. That’s you – the small businesses and start-ups that are defying the economic gloom to create a real buzz in this growing and dynamic business hub.

The finished MediaCityUK portrait will be a montage of 80-100 of the ‘small and the brave’ businesses from the creative industries. It’ll be shown on a large scale digital screen in the heart of MediaCityUK and you’ll be able to get your hands on a free copy if you’re one of the first 200 to call Hiscox after the event and get a business insurance quote. More details on how to get your quote will be posted closer to the event!
