Hiscox’s Group Digital Manager – Ronnie Brown, shares the latest hints, tips and things you should know when it comes to your digital business life.

This week – a report on Google’s enhanced campaigns; the original social media; and, how you might be able to predict your relationship break up courtesy of Facebook.

#1: Google’s enhanced campaigns
When Google introduced this new way of targeting advertising it caused search companies and clients a headache and the uncertainty of what might happen to their pay per click investment. This report by Marin goes some way to explaining what has happened since; with desktop and tablet behaviour converging, mobile use on the up and mobile costs increasing.

#2: Forums and bulletin boards
There’s always a tremendous amount of noise made about the latest social media technology or trend but the first, and the most conversational, of all these media types is the forum or bulletin board. Still going strong today in many different guises (be that product support or debating politics), forums offer true engagement for participants. Brands can have a role here but should tread carefully and respect the house rules if the forum is not an owned asset. This (slightly biased) study describes their enduring value.

#3: Facebook (and your relationship)
A very interesting piece of research entitled “Romantic Partnerships and the Dispersion of Social Ties” has emerged. Get a summary here from Digital Trends but essentially what the research finds is that Facebook can tell you things about your relationship and to some extent predict your future.
