This week – Online ratings, a new way of answering questions and a look into consumer trends for 2014.
#1: Online ratings
Many businesses rely heavily on customer online ratings to benchmark and to outwardly reflect service delivered. Recent research featured in MIT Sloan Management Review however suggests that online ratings ‘are systematically biased and easily manipulated’. It seems everyone could be a bit over-rated!
Co-founder of Twitter Biz Stone is amalgamating crowdsourcing, your social network and image search to create Jelly – a way for you to get an answer to the question of ‘what is that?’ based on a photo. It has a slightly idealistic feel about it and I’m not sure there is enough of a consumer need, but given his track record, it’ll be interesting to keep an eye on Jelly over the coming months.
#3: 2014 Consumer trends
It wouldn’t be the first update of the new year if I didn’t put at least one ‘prediction for 2014’ type article in here. Rather than the annual ‘<year> will be the year of mobile’, these consumer trends, with a nice site to back them up, seem to be the best of the bunch.
