Hiscox champions small and brave entrepreneurs – this much we know. But we also like to encourage the next generation of pioneers and innovators too, take this student advertising brief for example. Give it a go yourself this weekend. Or, better still, ask your children to.

Hiscox has partnered with charity Ideas Foundation to set an advertising campaign brief for a group of students aspiring to work in the creative sector after leaving education.

As part of the charity’s flagship programme ‘I Am Creative’ the aim is to enable young people to interact, understand and engage with real business problems, giving these brilliant young people an opportunity to find out about working in the creative industries.

Here’s what we asked them to do

Over a course of eight weeks the students have taken part in a number of sessions covering:

  • an introduction to advertising
  • insight into brand
  • the importance of target audience
  • brainstorming the brief
  • development and production
  • the pitch
  • working with feedback

How did the students do?

The final heat and pitches take place on Tuesday 14 July , so we’ll follow up next week to share with you how the students responded to the brief.

Who took part?

The students range in age from Year 9 (14 year olds) up to Year 12 (17 year olds). And they came from the following schools/groups:

The Complete Works (Hackney), Haberdasher Aske’s (Crayford), Nottingham Academy, Sir John Leman High School (Suffolk), and Manchester Creative Pioneers.
