Hiscox has a long and proud history of home insurance expertise. Not only has our home insurance been rated 5 star by Defaqto for 2023, we have also been awarded the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award in 2024 for the fifth year running for ‘consistently delivering excellence’ for customers. The Trusted Service Awards use real customer reviews to recognise businesses which deliver exceptional experiences.
For a limited time, ICAEW members who purchase a Hiscox home insurance policy will also receive a Eufy Video Doorbell (external link) as part of their home insurance package. This offer is open to new customers of Hiscox only, who have taken out a Hiscox Home Insurance policy on or after 20 September 2021 and must not have cancelled their policy within the first 30 days of their policy. The offer is not available for existing Home insurance customers of Hiscox who are renewing their policy. Terms and conditions apply.
Hiscox is proud to be the first UK insurer to partner with LeakBot to offer our buildings insurance customers a free leak detector service. The UK home insurance market has seen a significant increase in claims from water damage over the past few years so we want to help customers prevent the damage and disruption this can cause to you and your family.
What does LeakBot do?
Claim your free LeakBot water leak detector here. This offer is available to building insurance customers only and is not available for those who only have contents insurance.
You will also receive one expert engineer visit each year if needed to find and fix any leaks with standard parts and labour all included at no extra cost.
Plus you get a free engineer visit from a specialist LeakBot engineer.
LeakBot is a smart water leak detector that alerts you to hidden leaks early so you can deal with them before they become a bigger problem. It’s really easy to set up and monitors your home's water supply pipe 24 hours a day sending alerts to your mobile phone.
LeakBot’s patented Thermi-Q technology accurately measures both the air and pipe temperatures in your home. If you have a leak, it will continually draw colder water from outside into your home, creating a consistent drop in temperature. LeakBot can sense the prolonged and consistent drop in temperature and alerts you to the problem.
Once LeakBot is fitted on to your internal mains cold water pipe supply, the same one where you’ll find your internal stop tap, LeakBot will detect leaks on any pipe with a water flow that it’s fitted to. Installed correctly, it should monitor all the mains hot and cold water pipes running throughout the house. LeakBot does not monitor systems in your home that are ‘closed off’ from your mains water system; for example, a central heating system, a waste water system or an extension to your house with additional stop taps.
Most leak alerts will be small, low-level leaks, so there is no need to panic. In many cases, the leak will be something simple like a leaking toilet cistern or a dripping tap which the LeakBot app will help you find and which is easily fixed. If you are unable to find the cause or are concerned by what you find, you can arrange for an approved specialist LeakBot plumber to attend your property. LeakBot will locate and look to remedy your leak leaving your home leak free. LeakBot is a HomeServe Labs Limited innovation, which is part of the HomeServe Group.
Should you experience a leak alert from your LeakBot, Hiscox will cover the cost of 1 home visit per device every 12 months from a specialist LeakBot engineer. The 12 month period begins on the date you order your LeakBot device and upon each anniversary of this date. You will be responsible for the full cost of any further visits required. The leak location and repair services are subject to LeakBot terms and conditions which will be provided at the time of booking a home visit and can be found at https://leakbot.io/repair-terms (external link)
