Hiscox 606 Home Insurance

Our 606 home insurance standard cover is anything but standard.

Our Hiscox 606 policy is a premium home insurance product designed specifically for owners of higher value homes and possessions, with cover up to £150,000 as standard for contents (plus art and collections, jewellery, watches and valuable items).

Our 606 policy  includes cover you wouldn’t expect to find with a standard home and contents insurance policy,  and contains features tailored to suit the needs of individuals with specialist or complex requirements such as high value items, art or collections or listed buildings.

We also offer unlimited cover on buildings and contents, subject to qualification criteria so you will never be underinsured for these 2 elements of the cover.

Key features

  • Accidental damage covered as standard - Possessions are replaced on a ‘new for old’ basis with no reductions in value for wear and tear.

  • Worldwide cover for theft, loss and damage to your possessions when taken away from home for up to 60 days at a time.

  • Protection for you and your family - We provide specialist help and support if you and your family are involved in a covered incident such as identify fraud or aggravated assault following a burglary.

  • Protection for staff and visitors. Public liability and employers' liability cover of £10 million each (including COVID_19 physical and mental claims cover).

  • A common sense approach - No need to individually list jewellery  and watches under £25,000 in value, or fine art pieces under £50,000 in value if included in the overall sum insured.

  • Renovation and Extension – There is no need to notify us if contract works are under the value £100,000. Existing structure  and liability are already covered as standard with buildings cover.

Additional benefits and optional extras

Many of us are working from home as well as streaming more home entertainment. That means our broadband is almost – but not quite – as important as water, gas and electricity.

The good news is, if you suffer a loss of any of your utilities (gas, electric, water and, yes, broadband too) for more than 24 hours, then we will cover any increased costs to keep you working at home. There is no excess attached and the cover can be used to quickly hire a temporary broadband service or pay for additional data/streaming costs.

If you need to move out of your home because of a covered claim such as flood or fire, our ‘like-for-like’ promise means we will do all we can to find a similar property in your local area to minimise the disruption. This includes finding somewhere with home office facilities if you’ve been working from home. Don’t worry, you’ll still have a place for that Zoom call…

Bought anything new and precious? We automatically offer a 25% increase (up to £100,000) on your contents, jewellery and art cover for any new acquisitions purchased throughout the policy period. It means you’re more likely to be insured for the right values if anything happens.

But don’t forget to tell us if you acquire anything that might be worth more than 25% of the stated sum insured during the policy and you adjust your overall sum insured on renewal.

We will also cover:

  • the personal property belonging to your visitors and domestic employees who do not live in the home against physical loss or physical damage whilst it’s temporarily at the risk address;
  • your parents’ or grandparents’ household goods, clothing and personal property while in the nursing or care home where they reside against physical loss or physical damage;
  • the personal possessions of permanent members of your household in full time education against physical loss or physical damage while they are studying away from home.

Recent pandemic measures like lockdown may mean you have been away from your home or other properties longer than usual. Relax. As standard we won’t ask for any onerous visiting stipulations. All we require is that you leave the heating on to a minimum temperature of 10 degrees centigrade to avoid freezing pipes, or drain the water system.

If your home or property is usually unoccupied for more than 60 days per year then let us know.

More people are using electric bikes and personal scooters to go to work, shop, or to escape! The good news is, under your personal liability cover you will be covered if you injure anyone or damage their property and are held legally responsible, provided the equipment has been used in accordance with the law.

If you have people working for you at home such as gardeners, au pairs, and cleaners, then our £10m employer’s liability may come in useful. Cover includes any proven claims for physical and mental injury, including claims relating to catching COVID-19 whilst working at your home.

Note this is an optional extra for an additional fee.

Our cyber cover protects your personal computer, laptops, tablets or mobile phones along with the reconstitution of digital data, pictures and videos if they are damaged, altered or corrupted by a hacker.

Note this is an optional extra for an additional fee.

With uncertainty around future lockdowns, quarantine requirements, and localised restrictions creating lots of uncertainty, we have updated our travel cover. That means there is no “travel against advice” exclusion when applied to medical expense claims. Cover for cancellation, curtailment and medical expenses arising from COVID-19 is included as standard provided the trip was not booked when travel restrictions to the territory were in place.

Note this is an optional extra for an additional fee.

They say prevention is better than cure and that’s certainly the case when it comes to a leak in the home. Undiscovered, a leak could mean you being out of your home for a long period while we dry everything out and repair the damage. That’s where a LeakBot smart water leak device comes in useful, alerting you to any leaks before they become a major problem.

Qualifying 606 Hiscox customers will receive a FREE LeakBot smart water leak device – which normally costs £149 – and includes a free professional engineer visit if a leak is detected to help find and fix the issue (all labour and basic parts included).
