When will my policy be migrating?
We plan to invite policies 6 weeks in advance of their renewal date, mirroring the timeframes that we currently issue our renewals to.
Unless your renewal has been reviewed by an underwriter, terms will be issued by one of our migration renewals administrators. If you wish to discuss the terms please call your usual Hiscox existing business underwriter.
Why are some policies moving to the new wording and not others?
We have taken the decision to phase the transition of existing policies onto our new IT platform in order to manage the impact gradually and maintain our service to our brokers.
We will stagger the migration by broker and we expect the transition to take two years in total. The migration process for each broker will run for a 12 month period as the policies fall for renewal.
Why has my brokerage been selected to migrate over others?
We will migrate our brokers region by region, starting with independent brokers for each region before moving to Network and Strategic brokers in the later phases.
Why can’t every underwriter deal with my query?
As we transition more policies onto our new system, we will increase the number of underwriters who are able to handle your queries in turn. We expect to have all staff trained to handle your query on the new platform by the end of the year.
The reason we are doing this on a gradual basis is to protect the service we provide to our brokers.
Why has my policy number changed?
As a result of transitioning to our new IT platform, the format of your policy number will change. However the last seven digits of our policy numbers will remain the same but will have a prefix "PL-HOM0500".
Why hasn’t my policy been switched to Unlimited cover?
We will initially issue the renewal on the current sum insured basis. However if your client is eligible we will be delighted to consider switching them to unlimited buildings and general contents cover subject to receiving the additional risk information needed to offer terms.
Are you migrating all products?
No, during this transition we will focus on migrating 606, Portfolio & standalone motor with fewer than 5 vehicles. Other products such as overseas or schemes policies will remain on Magic for the time being.
Why are you migrating portfolio policies, but not standalone motor with more than 5 vehicles?
Given our decision to migrate on a phased basis, we have taken the decision to migrate the more complex cases later on and focus on the more simple policies initially.
Why has the format / layout of your documents changed?
Our policy documentation has been updated as a result of moving to our new platform.
Our wordings / schedules are now fully modular which means your client will only see what is relevant for the products they have selected.
We have also made our schedule easier to read by significantly reducing the number of pages and making certain sections such as inner limits more clearly visible.
We have looked to simplify where possible by providing one set of General Terms and Conditions for all wordings and combining the Luxury and Classic Motor wordings.
