What does landlords contents insurance cover?


Hiscox landlords contents insurance is an optional add-on to our standard landlords insurance policies, with coverage of up to £100,000 per property. 

Landlords contents insurance could cover the costs of repairing or replacing: 

  • Sofas 
  • Beds 
  • Curtains 
  • AV equipment, such as TVs 
  • White goods, such as washing machines and dishwashers. 

Landlords contents insurance typically covers unfixed furnishings and movable items.

What’s not covered in Hiscox contents insurance for landlords?


Our landlords contents insurance does not cover claims, losses, or investigations arising from: 

  • General wear and tear – which is inevitable with property ownership 
  • Tenants’ contents – tenants are responsible for insuring their own possessions 
  • Deliberate or malicious actions, the cultivation of any drug or by theft or attempted theft – by any tenant unless thorough inspections of the insured premises are carried out at least every 6 months and written records of such inspections are retained for at least three months.
