Free online portal for Hiscox clients – available only through brokers – will reduce costs and help businesses reduce the frequency and severity of accidents and mishaps
Hiscox has partnered with occupational health and safety experts Praxis42 to launch the Hiscox Risk Academy. Available to mid-market sized Hiscox clients at renewal and for new customers, the Hiscox Risk Academy provides a suite of e-learning modules tailored to each business and their industry sector, covering general health and safety, fire risk management and employee wellbeing advice.
Reducing frequency and severity
It’s an online facility that Hiscox believes will help clients reduce the frequency and severity of accidents and mishaps that can be hugely expensive and disruptive. “We want to make it easier for our clients to manage, control and view their risk profile,” said Peter Treloar, Hiscox’s UK Commercial Underwriting Manager. “The Hiscox Risk Academy, available only through a client’s broker, does just that by providing ready access to an extensive range of health and safety, risk management training and assessment materials.”
The services provided include IOSH approved fire, health, safety and wellbeing courses; self-assessment gap analysis for health and safety, and business continuity management; Hiscox risk management guides and polices; and, document and template management for fire, health, safety and risk management policies and procedures. “The Academy will help businesses manage their physical risks, digital and cyber, as well as employee mental health and wellbeing, ensuring that the programme is adapted appropriately whether it’s for a manufacturing business, for example, or an office-based tech company,” explained Treloar.
Saving resource
Once a client has purchased a Hiscox policy or renewed, they will be invited to register and Praxis42 will work with Hiscox’s broker partners to explain what the service can offer, alerting them to clients who may not have registered for the service. Tom Paxman, Managing Director at Praxis42 said: “Much of the content developed for the Hiscox Risk Academy represents activities that businesses are duty bound to undertake or provide from health and safety assessments to workstation assessments. But beyond that, it provides clients with a way to keep all training, assessment and document management in one place, while also providing huge efficiencies and saving resource.”
No cost
Critically, added Hiscox’s Treloar, there’s no additional cost for clients. “Mid-market businesses can spend tens of thousands buying access to training and assessment programmes for their business whereas the Hiscox Risk Academy comes at no extra cost for clients. And if businesses don’t already have a similar risk management offering in place, using the Academy means they could potentially benefit from a reduced incidence of costly claims.”
“It won’t stand still as an offering either,” concluded Treloar. “The Academy will continue to evolve and grow with our clients, helping them to manage a changing risk landscape while also potentially saving them time and money.”
The Hiscox Risk Academy goes live on 22 July for new business and from early September for renewing policies.
