- How long have you been in insurance?
I've been in the insurance industry for 20 years, five of those at Hiscox.
- What’s your background?
After university I joined the European arm of SCA Promotions. I helped brands and agencies around world with high-impact promotions while maximising their budgets. In 2014, after a year off work travelling the world, I joined Hiscox as PSC Development Underwriter. Working in the Maidenhead region for four years gave me the opportunity to craft a specialism in technology underwriting.
- Define your responsibilities in the technology team.
I ensure the growth of the broker channel technology sector account. I’m responsible for providing outstanding service to our external brokers and internal regions, as well as contributing to the continued enhancement and expansion of the Hiscox technology proposition. This will maintain our position as the go-to insurance company for all technology businesses.
- What are the big issues in the technology sector?
Maintaining innovation is key. For example, how do you counteract companies progressing so fast that they disrupt themselves? The benefit of innovative leaders at big companies partnering with cutting edge start-ups should not be underestimated. I believe Hiscox is ahead of the curve here with our Hiscox Future teams in place since 2016.
- How can your team and Hiscox help?
I believe that technology is vital to the success of almost every company in every industry, so our team is at the forefront of proving innovative insurance solutions and services to help protect and guide companies through their journey. Our ever-evolving suite is able to offer businesses prime insurance coverage and risk management services in addition to a world-class claims service in the event that something goes wrong.
- What do you enjoy most about working for Hiscox?
It’s the people without doubt. I also like the Hiscox values that we all adhere to – courage, quality, integrity and excellence in execution. It's great that we are expected to challenge convention in our industry and within ourselves to always do better.
- Describe your life outside of work.
I have a young family and every day is a bit of an adventure. My daughter seems to be taking a keen interest in my record collection and I enjoy sharing music with her. I also love to play snooker, pool and golf. Plus, I am a self-confessed fantasy football addict!
