Hiscox Underwriting Ltd (“Hiscox”) is offering eligible customers the opportunity to receive a free LeakBot leak detection device.
Hiscox is liable for the offer of the free LeakBot device and HomeServe Labs Ltd is liable for the manufacture, despatch and supply of the LeakBot to you and any HomeServe engineering services provided, including those at paragraphs 5 to 8 below. The supply of the device will be subject to HomeServe Labs Limited T&Cs which can be found here (external link).
By registering your LeakBot on the LeakBot app, you will be registering the device directly with HomeServe Labs Ltd., who is also the manufacturer of LeakBot. Hiscox Underwriting Ltd and HomeServe Labs Ltd are two separate companies therefore by registering the device directly with HomeServe Labs you are consenting to their terms and conditions.
Hiscox will use information provided to it from HomeServe from the LeakBot device to learn more about leak alerts and their correlation to escape of water claims, understand how customers react to these alerts and to enhance the way that we price for escape of water exposure in our household portfolio. Enhancing our pricing model for escape of water will allow us to be more accurate when considering the age, construction type, location and other characteristics of a property. Hiscox will have access to this data enabling us to determine whether a LeakBot has been installed, if a leak alert has been received and whether that alert is resolved. Hiscox will retain this information at least for the duration of your custom and will review retention of the data upon cancellation of any policies. Hiscox will not use information from LeakBot to make individual underwriting or pricing decisions or for the purposes of making claims handling decisions on your home insurance policy.
- You must have Wi-Fi connectivity in your home and access to a smart phone to apply for this offer.
- You must not reside in a flat as LeakBot will not function as intended in this type of property.
- Only 1 LeakBot device applicable per address insured with Hiscox and the LeakBot must be registered an insured address.
- The LeakBot device will be sent to you for free and will belong to you. It will come with a set of batteries that lasts approximately 4 years. The device may require replacement batteries in the future to continue monitoring your home.
Provided that your eligible properties continue to be insured by Hiscox, you will receive LeakBot leak monitoring services at nil cost. If you cancel your Hiscox insurance policy for a property where a free LeakBot has been installed, you will lose access to the leak monitoring and engineering services that support your LeakBot. LeakBot will contact you directly and provide you with the opportunity to enter in to a direct, paid for subscription service with them in order to continue to receive the full benefit of your LeakBot device.
- Should you experience a leak alert from your LeakBot, Hiscox will cover the cost of 1 home visit per device per 12 month policy period from a specialist HomeServe LeakBot engineer. To qualify for this offer, this home visit can only be requested in respect to an address insured by your Hiscox Insurance policy and you must still be a current Hiscox Insurance policyholder. The leak location and repair services are subject to HomeServe’s terms and conditions, which will be provided at the time of booking a home visit. Please read these carefully and note that should you cancel the booking outside the Cancellation Period {specified in HomeServe’s terms and conditions},we will not cover the cost of any rebooked or any other home visit.
- The cost of the free home visit covered by us will only cover the labour costs of that visit and you will be responsible for the cost of any replacement materials or parts required for the home visit.
- Any further leak alerts experienced within the same 12 month policy period that may require HomeServe engineering services will incur a fee and charges for any replacement materials and parts which will be at your expense. Future HomeServe’s engineering services may be subject to change.
- This offer will not affect your current terms and conditions as set out in your Hiscox Insurance policy or your ability to make eligible claims for any insured damage and/or costs arising from a leak that may be covered by your Hiscox Insurance policy. You should still contact us, using the contact details in your policy documentation, if something has happened that may result in a claim.
- Leak alerts or requests for HomeServe engineering services will not impact the renewal premium of your Hiscox Insurance policy except in circumstances that lead to a claim being made on your policy.
