London, UK (31 January, 2013) – Hiscox has boosted its London Market casualty offering with the appointment of three senior hires. In a bold move which will significantly enhance the London Market Casualty team and its global expertise, Hiscox appoints Miriam Goddard as Line Underwriter of Professions E&O, Chris Warrior as Line Underwriter of D&O and Joe Sweeting as Deputy Line Underwriter of Healthcare.
Commenting on the appointments, Neil Bolton, Head of Casualty, Hiscox London Market, said: “The casualty market has been soft for too long, when it turns we will be ready. I’m very excited about growing the team. Our focus is on offering the best and most relevant products to our brokers and clients, and this team will help us innovate as the market evolves”.
Miriam Goddard joins Hiscox from Jubilee Managing Agency where she cemented her reputation for dynamic risk assessment and cover for predominantly A&E and lawyers casualty lines. Miriam has years of experience and a deep understanding of the insurance needs within professions, and is especially interested in emerging complex professional exposures across the international market place. Anticipating a rise in demand for casualty insurance in these areas, Miriam starts with Hiscox in March 2013.
Chris Warrior will start with Hiscox in November 2013 joining from Beazley. With 30 years experience in Casualty, Chris is the London market leader for D&O and is recognised internationally for his expertise writing public D&O.
Neil said: “After 10 years of steadily softening rates, the US Director’s and Officer’s market has improved over the last 12 months making it an ideal time to establish the new team. Chris’ appointment is one of several that we intend to make within the D&O team this year. We aim to offer significant capacity to compliment existing players in the market”.
Joe Sweeting started with Hiscox in November 2012 and brings over 10 years of experience in the London Market in both Casualty insurance and reinsurance. Having previously worked with Amlin, Joe brings to the team a range of expertise particularly in U.S. exposed medical malpractice insurance and reinsurance.
“Joe’s particular expertise in the med mal arena is already generating huge interest in the market and the January renewal season has been a great start to his career at Hiscox”, added Neil.
Hiscox has a long and established history for underwriting mainly internationally traded business in the London Market. The new joiners add to a well regarded Casualty team, currently working across a broad range of markets, professions and risks including Lawyers, A&E, Healthcare, Technology risks, Miscellaneous E&O, Management liability, and privacy.
