Hiscox Business Club FAQs

Hiscox are proud to have built what we hope will become an iconic office building in York city centre and are delighted to be able to demonstrate our support for small business owners by allowing local entrepreneurs to share our space, and benefit from the opportunity to collaborate with other like-minded business owners.

Who is the Hiscox Business Club aimed at?

  • Firms with between 1 - 4 employees. We want to encourage cross-pollination of ideas and having more organisations working in the business club increases the opportunities for this.
  • Firms in the professional, creative or digital sectors. Our office environment and facilities are best suited to firms in these areas, though applications from other industries will be considered.
  • Collaborators. While there is no cost to be a member of the Hiscox Business Club we want to get to know our members. At times we may welcome your involvement in research projects, or marketing activity such as publishing success stories. A willingness to support Hiscox, and other business club members, would be beneficial.

What is the dress code?

Members will be expected to wear at least business-casual dress on site. We do dress down on Fridays though.

What are the office hours?

The business club should predominantly be used during normal office hours. The building is open 24 hours a day, and you are welcome to use it in this way. However, the majority of services will be available between 9am - 5pm.

What meeting rooms are available?

Members have the right to book meeting rooms and use video conferencing facilities. Meeting rooms available to book will be restricted to designated rooms. The process for booking these will be through the facilities team. Further details will be available on request.

What is the desk policy?

Business club members should operate a clear desk policy. This applies as much to confidential documents as coffee cups. The nature of a business club is that people will come and go throughout the day. Members should leave the space in a condition such that another member could use that desk immediately.

We look forward to reviewing your applications and finding out about the fantastic businesses thriving in York - a city we are proud to call home.
