When unfortunate and unexpected events impact your life and business, an interuption claim can support you

When an unexpected diagnosis over the Christmas period meant that our customer, a Pilates instructor had to take time off work for medical treatment; she made a claim as part of her business interruption policy.

Unforeseen medical problems can wreak havoc on your life; affecting you emotionally and throwing any plans you may have into confusion. Dealing with the financial upset these difficulties can cause often adds upset to injury.

Our customer knew that dealing with her medical issue was important. At the same time, she was concerned about taking time off work for her operation and subsequent recovery. Fortunately, she had previously taken out a business interruption policy with Hiscox – a policy designed to cover the insured for loss of income due to an unexpected interruption to business. Although her circumstances fell slightly outside of the defined parameters of accident and illness, we liaised with our underwriters and agreed our intention to cover her claims.

We quickly informed the customer of our decision and followed up with an interim payment shortly after to cover the costs she had incurred so far. Understanding the stress and worry the situation must have caused, we also arranged to send her a bath set to help brighten a difficult situation.

At Hiscox, we make it our business to understand yours. We provide specialist covers for a huge range of professions, including insurance for Pilates instructor. Having the right cover could prove invaluable and potentially help guard against unforeseen issues that could be damaging to your business.
