This division mainly underwrites internationally traded business in the London market. It handles large, complex risks from insuring against terrorism, to covering vast ocean-going liners or the launch of a satellite.

It operates mainly through Lloyd’s of London, which is not a company, but a group of syndicates backed by a central fund for maximum financial security. Hiscox underwrites at Lloyd’s as Syndicate 33, one of the largest on the trading floor.
