Hiscox Global Markets
From satellites to shipping, Global Markets underwrites mainly internationally traded business in the London market at Lloyd's. This group’s business is large and complex, and is usually shared with other insurers or uses the international licences of Lloyd's.

Sectors: Reinsurance and major property, London market, marine and energy, specialty, technology and media.

This division mainly underwrites internationally traded business in the London market. It handles large, complex risks from insuring against terrorism, to covering vast ocean-going liners or the launch of a satellite.

It operates mainly through Lloyd’s of London, which is not a company, but a group of syndicates backed by a central fund for maximum financial security. Hiscox underwrites at Lloyd’s as Syndicate 33, one of the largest on the trading floor. Our reputation for integrity, coupled with our specialist knowledge of complex areas of risk are major factors in our success there.

We have high-profile offshore operations based in Bermuda, Guernsey and Hiscox USA.

Hiscox Bermuda: Reinsurance, Group capital support.

Hiscox Guernsey: Art and private client, kidnap and ransom.

Hiscox USA: Art and private client, professional indemnity and specialty commercial, regional media and technology, American Live Stock Insurance Company.

Hiscox International covers our offshore operations. Our headquarters are in Bermuda (we became domiciled there in December 2006). Along with London, it is another big market in which we underwrite catastrophe and volatile business. Our USA operation on the other hand, is looking to rapidly expand its retail business in a market with big growth potential. Guernsey, also underwriting in the retail sector, operates our kidnap and ransom cover.

Hiscox UK and Europe
This group offers a range of specialist insurance for professionals and business customers, as well as high net worth individuals. It covers everything from homes and fine art collections to classic cars and bloodstock.

Hiscox UK and Europe concentrate on offering a range of insurance for professional and business customers as well as high net worth individuals. Again, we are specialists. From fine art to classic cars we concentrate on delivering insurance tailored to individual customer need. In 2000 we also began to insure customers directly, instead of working solely through the medium of a broker. Our current marketing campaign, on TV and in the press, is part of our strategy to grow this direct market.

Hiscox Events arrange specialist event insurance for everything from conferences to firework displays, major sporting events to weddings. With 30 years’ experience in the industry, we cover a range of risks from a concert being cancelled, to a venue being damaged after a gala ball. Hiscox Events does business direct and through brokers.
