Special event liability insurance

From outdoor functions to indoor concerts, our special event liability insurance can cover cancellation or abandonment of your event, property damage and legal liability. Our Event Insurance Portfolio offers you the flexibility of choosing the special event liability insurance cover you require. 
  • Cancellation – if your event is cancelled due to something beyond your control, cover will pay you for your loss of net profit or your irrecoverable expenses, up to the limit you choose. This includes cancellation following terrorism up to £100,000 for your event.
  • Property damage – provides cover for any loss of or damage to your property (or property you are responsible for) either at or traveling to and from your event. Loss of or damage to the venue's buildings, fixtures, fittings and machinery is also covered.
  • Legal liabilities – provides cover if you have to pay compensation to a third party following accidental bodily injury or damage to their property if the incident happens during your event.  This type of special event liability insurance cover also includes injuries from food poisoning caused by food or drink served as hospitality by you.  The standard cover is £2m but higher limits can be considered (Public Liability).  Cover is also available for your legal liability for injury to your own and casual staff up to £10 million (Employers’ Liability).
In addition to the standard covers above, you can purchase additional special event liability insurance cover for:
  • Adverse weather - for any part of your event in the open or in a marquee
  • Teleconferencing - available for interruption to picture, audio or data image communication links
  • Non-appearance of key people – such as key speakers, celebrities or entertainers
  • Enforced reduced attendance - which covers loss of profit if a substantial number of visitors can’t get to the event due to the same insured cause
  • Higher limits for Property Cover, Public Liability and Terrorism
  • Travel
  • Money and door receipts
